Help For Adolescents to Quit Smoking

Our Tobacco Treatment Program counselors can help people of all ages quit smoking

Children and teenagers are often impressionable. Many things can contribute to the adult they become. Smoking, for one, can become a habit or an addiction at an early age. That’s why counselors from our Tobacco Treatment Program are here to work with adolescents to help them quit.

There are many reasons an adolescent will try smoking – peer pressure, curiosity, or seeing a friend, family member or celebrity doing it. Because teens are constantly exposed to these factors, ongoing support from our counselors is necessary for them to stay committed to quitting.

For Parents

If you are concerned with your child’s use of tobacco, don’t overreact because it may do more harm than good. Instead, calmly discuss your child’s reasons for using tobacco products and offer your support. It’s the best route toward getting your child to quit.

Tell your child about our program and encourage him to join on his own. You can rest assured our counselors will offer constant support to your child. But as a parent, you need to do the same in order for your child to overcome an addiction to tobacco.

For Adolescents/Teens

Sometimes it can be difficult to admit you need help with something. When it comes to using tobacco, our counselors recognize how difficult it is to quit. They can help you through whatever situation you are going through.

We will work with you so you feel comfortable with the process, whether that be through over-the-phone or face-to-face conversations. We’ll plan a daily schedule that will help you avoid the regular temptations you face. Most importantly, we will help you plan and prepare for your quit date, and provide support for you as you adjust to your smoke-free life.

Our tobacco cessation services are available at all three Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network campuses.
